Step-by-Step: DELTA®-MS Foundation Wrap Installation

1️⃣ Prepare the Surface

Before installation begins, thoroughly inspect the concrete foundation wall. Use a broom or brush to remove dirt, dust, and debris. The surface should be clean, dry, and structurally sound. Patch any cracks or voids to ensure a smooth and stable base for the membrane. A clean surface ensures the membrane lays flat and adheres securely when sealed.

2️⃣ Measure and Cut the Membrane

Unroll the DELTA®-MS membrane on a clean surface. Use a measuring tape to determine the correct height—from the bottom of the footing up to just below the final soil grade. Mark the desired height and cut the membrane accordingly using a utility knife or scissors. Pre-cutting ensures efficient application and reduces material waste during installation.

3️⃣ Align and Attach the Membrane

Using a chalk line, mark a horizontal line along the foundation wall where the top of the membrane will be placed. Position the DELTA®-MS membrane dimple-side against the foundation wall. Begin unrolling it along the wall while aligning it with the chalk line. Secure it using DELTA®-FAST’ners or approved concrete nails, placing fasteners approximately every 12–18 inches along the top edge.

4️⃣ Overlap and Seal Vertical Joints

At vertical seams where two membrane sheets meet, allow for at least a 6-inch overlap. This overlap is crucial to creating a continuous waterproof barrier. Apply DELTA®-SEALANT along the full length of the overlap to prevent any water infiltration at the seams. Press the overlapping membrane firmly to ensure a tight seal.

5️⃣ Seal the Top with DELTA®-FLASH

To prevent water from entering behind the membrane from the surface, install DELTA®-FLASH along the top edge of the membrane. Apply it directly over the fastened membrane and press it into place, ensuring it forms a tight, weather-resistant seal along the entire length of the wall.

6️⃣ Secure the Bottom with Mold Strip

At the base of the membrane—just above the footing—install the DELTA®-MOLD STRIP. This strip helps hold the membrane securely in place, especially during the backfilling process. Fasten it evenly along the bottom edge to prevent membrane slippage and uplift.

7️⃣ Handle Corners and Penetrations

• Inside & Outside Corners: Fold the membrane tightly into corners, keeping the dimpled side against the wall. Fasten at both sides of the corner for stability.

• Pipes & Service Penetrations: Cut a hole in the membrane slightly smaller than the penetration. Slide the membrane around the pipe and apply a generous bead of DELTA®-SEALANT to seal the gap and prevent moisture intrusion.

8️⃣ Backfill Carefully

Once the membrane is fully installed and sealed, begin backfilling with appropriate material. Avoid using debris, construction waste, or sharp stones, as these can puncture or damage the membrane. Use clean, free-draining soil or gravel. Compact gently in layers to support the membrane without shifting or tearing it.
